Hippy Chic

I love the hippy chic look-it really gets me into the mood for summer :) Think florals, floaty tees and beach babe hair. Here's a little tutorial on how to do a gorgeous halo braid.
1. Make an off-centre parting.
2. Start the braid. take a strand of hair from the front and start plaiting.
3. Once you've done a couple of turns, start to take pieces of hair from the front and back, as you would a french plait.
4. Once you get to the ear, stop filling in and take a couple of turns, returning to a normal plait.
5. Pin the braid behind the ear using kirby grips.
6. Brush and fix. Use hairspray to texture. Spray on the braid.

River Island is a lovely place to get the hippy boho look.

Vintage Style :)

I love all things vintage. Whether its scrapbook papers, ephemera, makeup. clothes...anything! Today I decided to try out a 50's movie star style. As I don't have the right make-up to do this, I used my watercolours (though I don't advise you to do so). First, I put on some concealer and foundation. I added a little highliter to my cheecks and chin, and shader to under my chin and just under my cheekbones sweeping down to the corners of my mouth. I have quite a chubby face, sort of square-ish, and I read that doing this would make the face seem slimmer. I applied lash-lengthening mascara then got started on the focal points of the face. I put lipliner on forst, carefully outlining right to the corners of my mouth. Then I filled in with red, even in the corners, and applied Vaseline over the top to seal the colour in. Then I used black to create a beauty spot just underneath the corner of my nose, where the chubbiness finished. Ta-daa! Instant movie star glamour. With my brown curls it looked stunnning :)

Fashion and Beauty's Hottest

This season it's all about prints and pastels. The biggest prints are:
  • Bird-silhouette preferably.
  • Floral
  • Heart (try ditsy hearts print for a geek-chick look)
  • Polka dot
  • Car prints
The pastels have been all over the catwalk on the spring/summer shows. Forget ice cream colours though-think muted bold hues! Ditch rich winter shades like mustard for a zingy lemon. Don't be afraid to clash colours, create a totally unique look!
